Zeds Dead Go “Back Home” To Their Roots

Zachary Rapp-Rovan (Hooks) and DC (Dylan Mamid) are Zeds Dead. Thankfully, the duo met in Toronto, Ontario and have been blessing our speakers and sub-woofers ever since.

Hooks and DC share an immense love for hip-hop showcased by their first project together, while under the moniker Mass Productions, Fresh Beats. Fresh Beats is a 17-track LP of hip-hop instrumentals. To say Zeds Dead have come a long way since then would be an understatement. Today, Zeds Dead is a festival favorite known for their genre spanning live performance which often ends in a sleepless night.

Zeds Dead has been relatively quiet lately, but now we know why.

So we’ve been in the studio every day working on new music for the album…In a lot of ways this has been 5 years in the making, We’re taking our time to make it our absolute best and its close!

The hype for anything new from Zeds Dead is endless, but statements like this make the wait unbearable. Luckily, Zeds Dead dropped the teaser “Back Home” a single off the new album. Not only did Zeds Dead mention their dedication to their new album; they also announced their label Deadbeats. “Back Home” is the first release on Deadbeats and it features prominent Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs. Gibbs is coming off the release of his new album Shadow Of A Doubt, which was released in November of last year. This isn’t Gibbs, or Gangsta Gibbs as some call him, first rodeo in the electronic hemisphere. He previously appeared on the Flume track “Holdin On.”

What can we expect from Gibbs and Zeds Dead in the future? That is a question we all need the answer to. In the meantime, check out “Back Home” below.
