TomorrowWorld Forced to Close Doors for Day 3, Many Left Stranded

TomorrowWorld 2015 sadly did not go off without a hitch.

For the third year of the already-legendary EDM festival, mother nature stepped in to throw wrenches in the gears of the famed Georgian festival.

According to organizers, several days of continued rain forced them to cancel Sunday’s festivities for those who weren’t already camping on-site. Reports state that car parks and drop off locations flooded, making them inaccessible to outside traffic. Organizers also cancelled shuttles that were promised to run 24/7, stranding many festival goers and leaving them to fend for themselves overnight.

What resulted will live in festival lore for years to come, guaranteed.

After being forced to cancel shuttles and disallow outside traffic to pick up festival goers, attendees were left to hike miles back or sleep along the roads (many chose both options).

In a scene that’s vaguely reminiscent of the havoc and confusion that resulted from the torrential rainfall at the inaugural Woodstock, TomorrowWorld 2015 is a reminder of what can happen when organization and planning goes awry.

  1. I was there and my god. The rain really ruined the experience. On Friday I left my house around 11 to arrive at the site by 12. This is where the madness started. Traffic was backed up everywhere. I stood in that traffic line for 2 hours and arrived at the west entrance only to be told to go forward and make U turn with the other cars. It looked like the wait was another 2 hours. I left immediately and glad I did. I read later that on site parking was closed and everyone else was forced to move to the off-site parking which is another 9 miles away. Honestly, words cannot describe what happened and the decisions that were made by the event planners. Saturday was even worse…

  2. Sorry for your unfortunate experience. The most disheartening thing to us is that event organizers knew of the impending rain and logistical nightmare that would ensue and their contingency plan was that they hoped it just “blows over.”

This won’t be the last we have heard from this weekend.
