Marshmello’s “Ritual” Explores New Musical Style

Marshmello has been working hard all week with back to back performances at Haunted Fest, Something Wicked and Scream festivals. He also kicked off a massive Halloween celebration last night at Surrender Nightclub in Las Vegas. (Fun fact: If you wore a Marshmello helmet you got in for free!)

But everyone’s favorite “anonymous” DJ still has more to come.

Today he released his new single “Ritual” which he had debuted in a live performance over a month ago.

“Ritual”  features the vocal talents of Wrabel, who had collaborated with Afrojack on “Ten Feet Tall”.

Typically in the helmeted DJ’s music, the vocals are heavily edited and auto-tuned to create a synth sound. This electronic sound meshes well with Marshmello‘s musical stylings and is usually very effective. Marshmello diverts a bit from this usual method with his newest song; Wrabel’s vocals are front and center and it works.

This shift in his sound represents not only him evolving his sound to appeal to a more diverse audience, but also a sign of his artistic maturity.
